Mumbai is known for its red light area where thousands of commercial sex workers(CSWs) are staying. One such area is Sonapur Bhandup where more than 2000 CSWs have been practicing more than 10 years. Many of them are moved from Sonapur and only 250 CSWS are remaining. Sneha Sagar found that there was no intervention happened in this area and hence started working with CSWs since October 1998. Sneha Sagar is working to protect the rights and dignity of sex workers, their children and child sex workers. Prem Kiran was running Day and night care centre where we are provided them alternative environment away from the one which they are living conducive where their rights are protected, their needs are met and opportunities are given for their overall development and growth. Children are motivated to go to school and study regularly. They are also provided with educational material, health check-ups, vaccination camps, cultural programs, celebrations, moral education program.
Preventive approach:
Work with the children living with families in the brothels by segregating them from the exposure to the flesh trade and related evils and inculcate in them the interest of education and the holistic development.
Curative approach :
Redeeming from the clutches and vulnerability and protecting from the vicinity of the brothels and referring to the NGOs from the better future.
Rehabilitative:
Social, moral and economical environmental of the child through regular counseling and motivation for vocational training, self employment and job placement.
